Learning Objectives: In this webinar, you will learn about the uptick in disasters including fires, floods, hurricanes, and power outages, and how those are affecting the older adult population. You will understand the limitations of the Office of Emergency Services and why it is important, for you as Aging Life Care Managers, to develop a plan for your clients, whether they live at home or in a facility. You will learn about plans that include special considerations for cognitive impairment, mobility, and medical issues. You will gain a skill set to appropriately plan and ensure the safety of your clients should a disaster occur.

  • List elements of mobility & sensory plans
  • List the Office of Emergency Services' limitations

About the Presenter

Liz Heape-Caldwell, BS, MBA, CMC is the co-owner, Chief Operating Officer & Certified Care Manager at Elder Options, in the greater Sacramento Region. Liz has worked for Elder Options for over 24 years becoming excited about the field of Care Management while pursuing her undergraduate. She joined the Aging Life Care Association as a student and has been an active member for the past 14 years. Liz & her Aging Life Care Manager mother, Carol Heape, just celebrated Elder Options' 36th year in business. Throughout the years, Liz has assisted in diversifying Elder Options services to ensure they can help anyone who needs them, regardless of age or socioeconomic status.
