Webinar: 2015, 10/21: Frontotemporal Degeneration
October 21, 2015 Clinical Webinar: While frontotemporal degeneration (FTD) is the most common form of dementia diagnosed in people under age 60, it is not well-understood and appropriate services are seriously lacking. FTD causes profound personality changes rather than memory loss in those affected and typically strikes in the prime of a person's career and family life. This training will distinguish FTD disorders from other types of dementia clinically and in terms of the complex healthcare and psychosocial needs of persons diagnosed and their caregivers. Particular attention will be paid to the information and resources care managers need to educate service providers and advocate for appropriate care for people facing this particularly isolating neurodegenerative condition. The overall goal of the webinar is to describe how FTD is different than other dementias and how care managers can work most effectively with individuals and their families and educate others about the disease. Presented by Sharon S. Denny, MA - Program Director of The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) where she leads support and education efforts for people with FTD, their families and healthcare professionals.
